Eric Hoyt is a partner in the firm’s corporate and venture capital group, focusing his practice on advising high-growth startup companies at all stages—from formation through exit. He also represents angel and venture capital investors in their investments in emerging companies. Eric frequently serves in an outside general counsel capacity for his startup clients, building long-term relationships and delivering practical legal and strategic counsel on commercial, corporate, and securities matters, including venture capital and debt financings, commercial agreements, and employee equity plans.
Prior to joining MBL (formerly KB&A), Eric was an associate in the emerging companies group at Cooley LLP in Seattle, Washington. He graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he participated in the Transactional Law Clinic, served as an executive editor for the Journal of Law & Public Policy, and was a technical editor for the Harvard Law Negotiation Review. During law school, he interned at the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Eric graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University with a degree in Economics.
Outside of work, Eric enjoys hiking and snowshoeing with his family, watching Washington Husky football, and learning about the history of the English language.
