David Heywood is of counsel in the firm’s corporate and venture capital group, where he advises emerging growth companies and venture-backed startups on a wide range of matters, including formation, venture capital financings, licensing, debt transactions, service agreements, employee equity arrangements, and mergers and acquisitions.

 

David joined MBL (formerly KB&A) as a law clerk while attending the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, where he graduated magna cum laude and served as a Lead Note and Comment Editor of the BYU Law Review. He also earned an M.B.A. from the BYU Marriott School of Management, finishing in the top 10% of his class, and a B.S. in Accounting from Brigham Young University, cum laude with University Honors.

 

Prior to his legal career, David worked as a CPA on the transaction advisory services team at Ernst & Young, an experience that informs his practical, business-minded approach to advising clients.

 

In his spare time, David enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his family.
